ER308L Stainless Steel MIG Wire

ER308L is the most widely used stainless steel MIG wire, ideal for general-purpose applications. Designed for welding stainless steel, including types 301, 302, 304, 305, and 308, this filler metal features an average carbon content of 0.02%, ensuring excellent resistance to intergranular corrosion caused by carbide precipitation. Recognized as the most commonly utilized stainless steel MIG wire, ER308L delivers reliable performance across a range of applications.

  • 8" - 10 LB: .023, .030, .035, .045 in.

  • Carbon (C): ≤ 0.03%
  • Chromium (Cr): 19.5 - 22.0%
  • Nickel (Ni): 9.0 - 11.0%
  • Manganese (Mn): 1.0 - 2.5%
  • Silicon (Si): 0.30 - 0.65%
  • Molybdenum (Mo): ≤ 0.75%
  • Phosphorus (P): ≤ 0.03%
  • Sulfur (S): ≤ 0.03%

Mechanical Properties:

  • Ultimate Tensile Strength: ~84,100 psi (580 MPa)
  • Yield Strength (0.2% Offset): ~58,000 psi (400 MPa)
  • Elongation: ~42%

Applications & Performance

  • Ideal for welding stainless steels such as 304L, 321, and 347.
  • Low carbon content minimizes carbide precipitation, enhancing resistance to intergranular corrosion.
  • Commonly used in food processing, chemical industries, and structural applications.
